Analysis of the sports preparation of top sprint canoeists for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2021.

Title: Analysis of the sports preparation of top sprint canoeists for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2021 Objectives: The main goal of the work was to describe and compare the sports training of top sprint canoeists in the four-year Olympic cycle from the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2021, based on the analysis of training diaries. Methods: This is a research paper that uses a training diaries and controlled interviews with respondents to collect and analyze data from sprint canoeists. It involved 2 professional canoeists in senior age, their two coaches and a former senior senior professional canoeist. We used quantitative analysis for data collection. Subsequently, we evaluated the results qualitatively. Results: We were able to characterize the four-year Olympic cycle and compare the values from the competitors from the training diaries. Using controlled interviews with respondents, we found out the peculiarities associated with sports training in the Olympic cycle. The research question was answered on the basis of determining the exact differences in the values of training indicators in the monitored OH cycles. Propaganda in Sport: The exploitation of athletes by the Nazi regime

This thesis deals with the misuse of the phenomenon of sport and athletes themselves for the purposes of Nazi propaganda. The thesis is introduced by the theoretical grounding of the phenomenon of sport in society, its political significance and the relationship between the media and sport. The term propaganda, its history and typology, and types of propaganda are also introduced. The chapter then turns to the topic of Nazi propaganda itself - the Nazi ideology, the foundations of Nazi propaganda and the means it employed, including its focus on sport and physical culture, are introduced. After a theoretical introduction, the thesis introduces personalities and events that are subjected to a qualitative content analysis in the contemporary media (Nazi, Sudeten German and Czechoslovak) and on whose example the manifestations of propaganda will be examined. The first of these personalities to be examined is the German boxer Max Schmeling, in the context of his victory in a fight with the dark- skinned American boxer Joe Louis in June 1936, which was a fitting confirmation of the theory of white supremacy for German propaganda. Athletes and Heroes - construction and evolution of Czech olympic medalist image

The diploma thesis "Athletes as heroes - construction and evolution of Czech olympic medalist image" deals with media construction of olympic Winter image and its following trasformation into national hero myth. It approaches the topic from the perspective of semiotic analysis. It informs about the key concepts of semiotics and media studies like visual communication, sign, code, myth, social construction of reality, representation and stereotype. These concepts are consequently used as tools for the analysis of photos (thein legends) and headlines in daily press. The text shows on the case of six olympic winners (between years 1998 - 2008) how Czech daily press dealt and built individual stories a basic archetypes. In its first part it offers basic theoretical frame serving to understand the hero image as the social construct. Athlete with his win attracts new - medial constructed - identity. In the second part text tries to analyse media contents that deal with athetes images immediate after their olympic victory. It arrives to following conclusions: media have a tendency to produce the stories od victory, that are gender unequal and stereotyped. And finally, text show us individual images, their basic signs and confrontation, that signifies very similar narrative pracices and zero progress in time.

Title: Analysis of the sporting achievements of young Czech athletes at the European Olympic Youth Festivals (EYOF) and Youth Olympic Games (YOG) following their participation and sports results at Olympics Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to process an overview of the participation and sports results of young Czech athletes at the EYOF and YOG, followed by analysis and statistical evaluation how these athletes got on in competitions of the Olympic Games Methods: Because of the specific topic, structure of the whole thesis and used methods had to be customized to our needs. First two subsections of the analytical part are kind of descriptive-analytic research, therefore it is theoretical work. Other subsections contain statistical-analysis and explanation of the obtained data. This part of the work is based on a secondary analysis of data, and thus it is a research method of qualitative research. Results: In the first part of analytic section we processed on overview of the participation of young athletes and their sport results at the EYOF and YOG between the years 1991 and 2015. Based on this overview we searched for athletes who participated both, EYOG or YOG and Olympics. After that we processed this results as well. The bachelor thesis aims to introduce the reader to the difference between Czech and German journalism and the manner of informing about sport events during the eleventh Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936. These Olympic Games were the first games in their modern history used for the purposes of propaganda. The thesis compares three significant Czech periodicals (Lidové noviny, České slovo and Venkov), with the German ones - Fehrbelliner Zeitung, Schwedter Tageblatt, Prager Tagblatt, and Deutsch-chinesische Nachrichten in the time period of 31st July 1936 to 17th August 1936. Emphasis is placed on the Czech titles, illustrating journalism coming from a democratic environment. Different approach to journalism in Czechoslovakia and Third Reich is examined using description and comparison of selected articles, always related to the same event or topic.
